Questions families ask
If yours isn't here, call and ask. There's no charge for a question.
What does a first meeting cost?
Your first meeting is a flat fee that we quote when you call, and it's credited toward the work if you go ahead.
How are your fees set?
Most planning is a flat fee, set out in our letter before anything is drafted. Probate and guardianship are usually billed by the hour, with an estimate and a monthly statement.
Do we need a will or a trust?
It depends on what you own, where it is and who will inherit it. Many families need only a will. We'll tell you which, and why, at the first meeting.
What is a power of attorney, and why does it matter?
It lets someone you choose handle your money and property if you can't. Without one, your family may need a court guardianship to pay your bills.
My father has dementia. Can he still sign?
Perhaps. Capacity is judged at the moment of signing, and many people with early dementia can still sign a power of attorney or will. We meet with him to find out.
Do you handle estates with property in another state?
Yes. We coordinate with a lawyer where the property is, or use a trust to avoid a second probate.
Is my information kept private?
Yes. What you tell us in a consultation is confidential. Just don't send private details through the website form; call us instead.
Do you meet clients in Spanish?
Yes. Isabel meets clients and families in Spanish.
Still wondering where to start?
Call the office. We'll point you to the right lawyer.
